A Journey to Encounter Asia Through Art Collectives

About the Course

Overview

DeepDiveYokohama hosts the Social Good Study Tour titled "A Journey to Encounter Asia Through Art Collectives" to build a continuous network among domestic and international artists, local communities, private sectors, government bodies, and individuals or organizations interested in cultural and artistic promotion. Through this program, we aim to foster intellectual exchange, explore opportunities for future collaborations and joint research, and unlock potential for cultural and artistic development.

Participants will deepen connections with local artists, collectives, and art professionals, sharing insights into the challenges and state of art-related projects and operations in Yokohama. This tour will also enhance understanding of cultural policies and encourage the application of learnings to future initiatives. In Koganecho, home to many art collectives and artist-in-residence programs, participants will explore the recent rise of collective culture in Asia and the evolution of art collectivism in Yokohama over the past 20 years of its Creative City initiative.

The tour highlights the role of public and collective survival strategies and provides an opportunity to learn about diverse and inclusive area management movements. Through this journey, participants can discover the charm of art in Koganecho, Hinodecho, and beyond, while envisioning possibilities for co-creation with DeepDiveYokohama.
